Dog Friendly

The Isles of Scilly is a paradise for dogs, just as much as for their owners. Why not explore the peaceful beaches and the countryside together? Dogs travel free of charge on the Boatman Association boats, so island hopping is easy and most dogs love the experience.

At Tregarthen’s, we offer dog-friendly accommodation, for a small charge of £20 per dog per night. Dogs are welcome everywhere in the hotel except the Restaurant. However, if you would rather not leave your dog in your room during breakfast or dinner, we are happy to serve your meal in the Lounge or Conservatory (or on the terrace if it is a fine day) so your four legged friend can stay by your side.

We understand that dogs are an important member of the family which is why we welcome small well behaved dogs in certain rooms at a charge of £20 per dog per night.  Working with a local dog charity, we can provide a range of equipment for your dog, to help you enjoy your holiday with us.  This includes crates, plastic beds, soft beds, blankets, towels and bowls.  Available in a range of sizes - ask our team at the time of booking and we can make the arrangements for you.

We can also provide details of the many good local walks.

Travelling to the Isles of Scilly with dogs

You can either take the Scillonian, the passenger ferry from Penzance (dogs travel with you and must remain on a lead) or you can fly on the Skybus from Land’s End or Newquay. Only one dog is allowed per flight and canines must travel in an RSPCA approved animal box.

Restricted beaches for dogs

Between1st May-30th September, some beaches on the islands are closed to dogs, but all other beaches welcome dogs all year round so there are always  plenty of places where you and your dog can roam free. The beaches on St Mary's that are closed to dogs between 1st May and 30th September are Old Town, Porthcressa and Porthmellon.
