Tregarthen’s Hotel Heritage

Tregarthen's is proud to use fresh local produce wherever possible Here are just some of our local suppliers, whose fresh quality produce helps to make your stay at Tregarthen's memorable.

Barry Bennett

A fisherman from St Mary’s who delivers fresh picked crab and live lobsters to the hotel. A true Scillonian seafarer, Barry Bennett received a gallantry award in 1993 when as coxswain of the St Mary’s Lifeboat, he rescued a lone yachtsman in heavy seas, just before the yacht was engulfed by waves and sank. Barry has also caught some unusual lobsters in Scilly, including a slipper lobster, now on display at the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth. This is only the fifteenth slipper lobster found in Britain since they were first recorded in 1758.
